Cast of Characters

Ivy Alfaro (Parsnips, a Gnome) is in her third show here at The Green Room (TGR).  A  4th grader at Lyle Creek, she participates in the Curiosity Club and the Art Club, and she is a Girl Scout.  Besides acting, her hobbies include playing piano, crafting, baking, and fashion designing.

 

*Anna Cook (Violet, a Gnome) is making her TGR debut, although she did appear onstage as an angel in Hickory Ballet Academy’s The Nutcracker recently.  A 2nd grader at Shuford Elementary, she enjoys horseback riding, art, math, science, and dance.

 

*Freddy Cook (Hans, the Merry Baker) attends Shuford Elementary where he is in the 4th grade.  He has been playing baseball for 6 years, and he also enjoys playing video games and reading. He serves as an acolyte at FUMC in Newton and is learning to play guitar.

 

*Cole Cushman (King Theodore) has attended Creative Works and the Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute (SSTI) here at TGR.  A homeschooled senior, he plans to attend Western Carolina in the fall to study English in order to pursue a career as a screenwriter. His hobbies include singing, playing guitar, watching movies, fishing, hiking, traveling, biking, and writing stories.

 

Kendal Eckard (Lady Beatrice) has appeared in shows at TGR (The Frog Prince and The Clockmaker’s Child) and at HCT.  She is in the 6th grade at Newton-Conover Middle School where she is learning to play the trumpet.  She loves to sing, read, and cook, and hopes that you enjoy the show.

 

Coble Hartman (Sir Circumference) was last seen at TGR as Michael Banks in Mary Poppins and in Shakespeare in the Park’s Twelfth Night. He is a member of the Website Builder Club at West Alexander Middle School where he is in the 6th grade. Coble enjoys making YouTube videos, doing Animation, and singing in chorus.

 

Lydia Humphries (Queen Isabelle) has been in many shows at TGR and at Bandys where she is a sophomore.  She is a member of the Beta Club who enjoys singing, dancing, reading, traveling, coloring, drawing, and playing the flute and piano.  She is proud to have been in all of David Brown’s original plays staged at TGR.

 

*Kacie Kehoe (Opal, The Enchanted Fairy) has enjoyed being in many shows at Lyle Creek and also played Marta last year in Bunker Hill’s Sound of Music. She is a 4th grader whose hobbies include playing basketball, being in the Running Club, dancing, singing, and learning to play the recorder and, yes, the ukulele!

 

Lynnlee Little (Princess Penelope) is a 7th grader at North Lincoln Middle School. She enjoys taking Creative Works classes and Shakespeare camp at TGR, and was seen in last season’s Isabella at the Circus. She loves history, cats, Pinterest, reading, writing, playing clarinet, and being a Girl Scout.

 

Bretlyn Marr (Agatha, a Wicked Enchantress) is a homeschooled senior who also works as a tutor at Mitchell College.  She appeared in TGR’s The Homecoming and Peter Pan, and she has also participated in SSTI. Bretlyn enjoys reading, cooking, and sketching, and she is currently taking flying lessons!

 

Danica Marr (Hershebelle, the Unicorn & Granny Truffleroot) has been onstage at TGR in The Homecoming, Peter Pan, Robin Hood, and The Cat in the Hat.  She loves swimming, singing, drawing, and taking care of her dwarf rabbit.  Danica is a homeschooled 7th grader who also enjoys playing piano and the ukulele—even when she is not a magical unicorn!

 

*Angela Mason (The Widow Willow)  is in the 8th grade at Mill Creek Middle School. She serves as President for the Catawba County 4-H and is involved in Duke’s TIP program. She has been in a few school and church plays and is excited to be on the big stage! She plays the trombone, sings, and loves to bake—especially cookies!

 

*Kayleigh Miller (Marmalade, a Gnome) is a 5th grader at Startown Elementary who loves to play volleyball and participates in Science Olympiad. She also likes to go swimming, enjoys baking, and says she is a daydreamer.  She is excited to be in her first show at The Green Room.

 

Ian Parsons (Brittlebark, a Gnome) appeared last season in TGR’s Isabella at the Circus. A 4th grader at Lyle Creek Elementary, he is in the Curiosity Club and is also  a Boy Scout.  His hobbies include building with Legos, playing video games, and riding go-carts.

 

*Ellie Phipps (Bluebird of Happiness) has participated in Creative Works classes and SSTI at TGR.  She has also performed in The Nutcracker with the Hickory Ballet Academy. She is a homeschooled 3rd grader who enjoys singing, dancing, scrapbooking, and playing the guitar.

 

*Abigail Reis (Sir Jinkies, the Talking Cat) is enjoying making her stage debut in The Quirky Quest. She attends West Alexander Middle School and is in the 6th grade.  She is currently taking piano lessons and also plays the clarinet.  Her hobbies include reading, biking, skateboarding, and playing with her dog, Clark, and her cat, Lucky.

 

*Olivia Roper (Bubbles, a Swamp Sister) loves music. She plays the piano and guitar, sings with her church’s youth band, and is currently taking voice lessons.  She is a homeschooled 10th grader who works at Chick-fil-A. She has been in drama skits at her church, and she also enjoys reading and playing volleyball and basketball.

 

Madison Saunders (Marsha, a Swamp Sister) is a senior at Bandys where she plays trumpet in the marching, jazz, and symphonic bands and where she performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also appeared at TGR in Isabella at the Circus. Madison enjoys reading, being with friends and family, attending church, and watching scary movies.

 

*Trinity Shook (Rosemary, a Gnome) is a 4th grader at Webb A Murray Elementary who enjoys dancing, acting, coloring, and sewing. Her favorite school subjects are reading and social studies, and her favorite thing to do in the summer is to go swimming and then to eat snacks.

 

Camryn Snarr (Squire Bobby) has appeared in many shows at TGR including Peter Pan (Michael), Miracle on 34th Street (Susan), and most recently, Wait Until Dark (Gloria).  A 7th grader at Newton-Conover Middle School, she plays trumpet and piano and enjoys reading, Legos, horseback riding, and ballet.

 

*Abbey Spiva (Lady Olive) is a student at Bandys where she serves as Freshman Secretary in the Student Government, plays soccer, and participates in the Drama Club and Science Olympiad.  She performed in Red Herring at school, but is thrilled to be in her first TGR show. Abbey’s other hobbies include reading, singing, and writing.

 

*Carlie Walker (Lady Lillian) is active in the Science Olympiad and Girls Running Club at Clyde Campbell Elementary where she is in the 5th grade. She is also a Girl Scout and likes to stay active doing tumbling and playing volleyball.  She loves playing with her dog, Benji, and spending time with her friends.

 

*Kathryn Wilkinson (Wise Wizard) has been in plays at church and school, and recently played a giraffe in Lion King, Jr. at Mountain View Elementary where she is a 6th grader.  She plays soccer, enjoys being in Bible Club and Chorus, and loves arts and crafts, baking, and reading.

Production Team

 

John David Brown, III (Playwright & Director) is the Creative Director at TGR and has directed, costumed, and acted in many productions here. His most recent directing credits include Mary Poppins, Isabella at the Circus, and this season’s Beauty and the Beast. David feels blessed to be a part of a community that values and appreciates the enrichment that the Arts bring to our lives.

 

Andy Lominac (Costume Designer) is in his 7th season working in the costume department here at TGR. Andy works in Marketing and PR for Hickory Park Furniture. He is thankful for his mom who always supported him and encouraged his creativity. And as she always said, “Remember life is too short not to wear red high heels if you want to.”

 

Gina McWhirter (Stage Manager) is blessed to be employed by the YMCA of Catawba Valley.  She has appeared at TGR in lead roles in The Wizard of Oz, Anything Goes, The King and I, and most recently, Dixie Swim Club and Southern Fried Nuptials.  She also loves working with these talented students and has served as stage manager for several all-youth shows.

 

Katy Sigmon (Lighting Designer) is a Costume Designer, Lighting Designer, and Wig & Makeup Artist. She stays busy designing costumes and lights for several area theatres and is as a Teaching Artist for TGR’s Creative Works classes. Love to Caleb and Glory to Papa.

 

Jonathan Banner (Technical Director and Sound Designer) graduated from Gardner-Webb in 2013 with a Theatre Arts degree with a concentration in Technical Theatre. He volunteered at TGR while in high school and began full-time in January 2014.  When not at the theatre, he enjoys spending time with friends.
